Video Editing

Green Screen Video Project Instructions on how to create a green screen interview project with students. Kindergarteners research animals and create interviews. First graders could do this with community helpers.

Screencapture (image/video)

Image

  • Screenshot Machine: Paste a URL and create a fullscreen image of a webpage. No ads.

  • thumbalizr: Create a small image of a webpage to put in your own website. No ads.

  • kwout: A unique screenshot tool for websites. Select an area to copy and receive an embed code that you can put in a website. Maintains all links within the image as well. No ads. Somewhat tricky to use at first.

Video

  • Screenr: Record screencasts (ie. videos of your screen) of up to five minutes in length. Needs Java access. Add audio as well. Download or share online. Simple to use. No ads.

  • Screencast-O-Matic: Record screencasts (ie. videos of your screen) of up to ten minutes in length. Needs Java access. Add audio and webcam as well. Download or share online. Simple to use. No ads.

Video (view/edit/create)

Record

  • mailvu: Record a video online using your webcam (up to 16 minutes). Get a unique URL to share. Requires Adobe Flash. No ads. Simple to use. Videos are deleted after 30 days. No option to download.

  • videomessageonline: Record a video online using your webcam (up to 2 minutes). Get a unique URL to share. Requires Adobe Flash. No ads. Simple to use. Videos can be embedded. Videos are deleted after 30 days. No option to download.

  • Webcamera.io: Record a webcam video online and download to your computer. No option to host. Some ads. Requires Adobe Flash. Simple to use.

Edit

  • Stupeflix: Create a video up to 20 minutes long using photos, videos, and audio. Access to creative commons work with automatic attribution. Registration free, although free videos can’t be downloaded, but can be uploaded to Facebook, YouTube, or Vimeo and downloaded from there. They are also hosted by Stupeflix so they can be embedded and shared. Also, all free videos are private, but once transferred they can be deleted. Very simple to use with a variety of templates.

  • Shotclip: Upload videos, audio files, and images to create videos online. Requires registration, but a fake email works. Limit on 5GB of storage, 480p resolution, and 15 minutes export per month. Somewhat slower, but works fine. Videos made with the free account have a watermark.

  • Kizoa: Upload videos (up to 1 minute in length), images, and audio files. Trim and combine with transitions. Needs free registration, but fake email works. Can’t download files, but a shared link is given. Viewers can comment without registration. There is a 1GB storage limit. No ads (except the Kizoa ads). Not terribly simple, but works.

  • TubeChop: Trim a YouTube to a smaller section and get a link to share with others. A few ads. Requires Adobe Flash. Simple to use.

  • safeshare.tv: Paste in a YouTube link and get a ‘safe’ URL (i.e. a link that takes away everything but the video). Option to trim video (start and end points). Very simple to use. No ads.

  • ViewPure: Paste in a YouTube link and get a ‘safe’ URL (i.e. a link that takes away everything but the video). Option to trim video (start and end points). You can also create a ‘custom’ URL and set a password. Very simple to use. No ads.

Upload and Share

  • SendVid: Upload an share a video without registration or ads. Works with mobile devices. Videos are not listed in a public list or searchable. Link can be shared or video embedded in a website. Great site for students to share videos.

  • vid.me: Upload and share a video online without registration or ads. Does show some videos on the front page. Videos uploaded from web can be set as not publicly listed. App for Android devices allows for recording and uploading videos without an account (although videos may appear in the public list). Very simple to use. Allows others to download video as well.

  • SomeVid: Upload an share a video without registration or ads. A library of public videos is shown on the main page. Videos may be listed in a public list. Link can be shared or video embedded in a website.
